CaixaSmart: Ticket Management for Church Fundraisers
A ticket-management system that replaces manual ticket math at the cashier line with an automatic, error-free calculation.
The Problem
Church festivals and fundraisers ("quermesses") traditionally run on physical tickets ("fichas") that customers exchange for food and drinks. Working out the right combination of tickets for each order is manual math — done by a cashier, under pressure, during the busiest moments of the event — and mistakes mean lost revenue or a slower line.
The Solution
We built a web application where event admins register the menu and the available tickets ahead of time, and the cashier screen automatically works out the exact ticket combination for any order — no manual counting, no mental math under pressure. The app is built on Next.js with admin authentication (NextAuth) and a Prisma-managed database, so event data — menu, tickets, and orders — is structured and auditable instead of living on paper.
The Result
Cashiers move through orders without stopping to calculate ticket combinations by hand, even during rush periods. Organizers get a digital record of the event's menu and tickets instead of relying on paper or memory — replacing a manual, error-prone process with a system that computes the answer instantly.
